DeepCast Creator Launches Listener Comments for Podsites: Building Community Around Podcast Content

LOS ANGELES, CA — March 10, 2025DeepCast today announced the launch of Listener Comments on Podsites, enabling podcast audiences to engage directly with episodes on podcasters' DeepCast-powered websites. This feature addresses a critical need for podcasters’ ability to centralize community engagement through their owned and operated property, giving creators more control over audience interactions while fostering deeper connections with listeners.

"Podcasters have consistently told us they want more meaningful ways to interact with their audiences in spaces they actually control and they want to encourage more of this interaction behavior across the podcasting ecosystem as a whole," said Lucas Dickey, CEO of DeepCast. "With Listener Comments, this part of our transformation of Podsites from static—though data rich!—content repositories into vibrant community hubs where conversations can flourish around podcast episodes."

The new feature allows authenticated listeners to leave comments on individual episodes, while giving podcasters moderation capabilities to maintain a positive environment and encourage continued discourse. Authentication requirements help reduce spam and ensure higher-quality engagement compared to open comment systems. Posters do, however, pick their own display handle for personal safety reasons.

Key Benefits for Podcasters and Listeners:

  • Centralized Engagement: Comments are hosted on the podcaster's own Podsite rather than scattered across multiple platforms, creating a single destination for community interaction
  • Engagement Nudges: Podcaster is notified when new comments land on their episode page so they can chime in if appropriate or simply watch the direction of conversations
  • Simple Moderation Tools: Podcasters can easily review and manage comments, including removing inappropriate content
  • Authentication System: Reduces spam and bot activity while encouraging more thoughtful contributions
  • Episode-Specific Focus: Comments are tied to individual episodes, keeping conversations contextually relevant

Podcasters now have a clear call-to-action for their audiences: "Visit my site and leave comments on this episode – I'd love to hear your thoughts, and I'm sure other listeners would too. Let's make this a conversation!"

Community is everything in podcasting. Having comments directly on a Podsite gives podcasters a way to actually hear from listeners and lets them connect with each other.

Future Enhancements:

DeepCast is already exploring additional community features based on early user feedback, including:

  • Feedback mechanisms like likes or upvotes with engagement metrics
  • Threaded comment responses for more organized conversations
  • AI-assisted moderation tools to help podcasters manage growing communities
  • Comment summaries to help creators quickly digest audience feedback

Listener Comments is available now to all DeepCast Creator Standard users. Podcasters can activate the feature from their Podsite settings page in the Creator portal.
